Marlene has been studying yoga for over 20 years and teaching since 1998. After the birth of her first child, Marlene became inspired to share the benefits of yoga with pregnant women. She completed formal training in prenatal and postnatal yoga instruction in Seattle in 2001. Marlene’s own study and practice of yoga during each of her three pregnancies, births, and postpartum periods have significantly informed her teaching as has the wisdom she has gained from hundreds of pregnant and postpartum students.
She has a passion to empower women with a greater understanding of their bodies and the transformational changes that pregnancy, birth, and aging bring. Most recently, Marlene has completed teacher training with Leslie Howard on yoga and the pelvic floor. She weaves this knowledge into her classes in addition to specialty workshops.
Marlene has taught yoga for the Lamaze Association, the University of Michigan M-Fit Program and the University of Michigan Depression Center, and the St. Joseph Hospital Women’s Health Center. She also currently teaches at Yoga Focus in Ann Arbor. As a former clinical social worker, Marlene brings her skills of facilitating connections among students and sharing community resources in her yoga classes.
At Inward Bound, Marlene teaches the prenatal and postnatal yoga classes and offers regular workshops for women on Yoga and Your Pelvic Floor and for pregnant couples on Prenatal Partner Birth Yoga. Please contact Marlene with any questions at firstname.lastname@example.org or (734) 930-1970.
